How to Actually Get Reservations
Standard Approach (What Everyone Does)
1. Check OpenTable or SevenRooms
2. See "No availability"
3. Give up
What Works Better
Book at release time:
Most restaurants release tables 30-60 days out. Set a calendar reminder for your target date minus booking window.
Call, don't click:
Phone reservations sometimes find availability that online systems don't show. Call at 10am when the reservations team starts.
Be flexible:
Tuesday at 6pm is easier than Saturday at 8pm. Lunch service is often available when dinner isn't.
Use a concierge:
This is our job. We maintain relationships with restaurant managers. When tables aren't available publicly, they often exist for regulars. Our fine dining bookings leverage these relationships.
What to Expect at a Michelin Restaurant
Dress code:
Smart casual minimum. Most one-stars allow nice jeans with a collared shirt. Two and three-star restaurants expect business casual or smart elegant.
Timing:
- •Arrive 10 minutes early
- •Plan 2-3 hours for tasting menus
- •Don't rush the meal
Price reality:
- •One star: AED 400-700/person with wine
- •Two stars: AED 700-1,200/person with wine
- •Three stars: AED 1,200-2,000/person with wine
Tipping:
Service charge (usually 10%) is often included. Additional tipping is appreciated for exceptional service.
Best Tables at Each Venue
Not all tables are equal. Specific requests that work:
- •Ossiano: Ask for the table with the best aquarium view (not by the kitchen)
- •At.mosphere: Window seat on the 122nd floor, sunset timing
- •Nobu: Chef's counter if available
- •Zuma: Terrace with DIFC skyline view
We request these automatically for Ya Salam Dubai members.
